For the reason of settling down in Hungary, national permanent residence permit can be issued for the person whose settlement is aligned with the interests of Hungary and is having a residence permit or interim permanent residence permit. Furthermore it can be issued for those:
- who has resided legally in the territory of Hungary continuously for at least the preceding 3 years before the application was submitted
- who is a dependent direct relative in the ascending line of a Hungarian national, or a third-country national with permanent resident or refugee status, and living in the same household for at least 1 year before the application was submitted
- who is the spouse of a Hungarian national, third-country national with permanent resident or refugee status, provided that the marriage was concluded at least 2 years before the application was submitted
- who was formerly a Hungarian national and whose citizenship was terminated, or whose ascendant is or was a Hungarian citizen
- who is a minor child of a third-country national with permanent resident or refugee status
Residence in the territory of Hungary shall not be considered interrupted by temporary absence from the territory of Hungary of less than 4 consecutive months at any given time, if the combined duration of the foreign national’s absence does not exceed 270 days over a period of 3 years before the application is submitted
